Welcome to the Extraction Bay - a bustling system of Docks near the base of the CaSiAl Lighthouse. These imports and exports need processed. —> Artifacts are knowledge bits and Relics are longstanding modules or concepts. According to the theoretical framework of CaSiAl, these are in the Dwelling portion of the Lighthouse and will have relationship properties defined to Lanterns, Astragals, People, Entities, each other, etc.

As mentioned above, relics can umbrella sets of artifacts. The Extraction Bay itself was inspired by a import/export Dock situation nearby the CaSiAl Lighthouse. As this is a landing page for notes coming from many directions and added in different contexts, I wanted it to serve as a gatekeeper for incoming and outgoing information - making sure that A.) It is a justified addition to my knowledge base and brings value, B.) That there is a checks/balance system on intentionality vs the willy nilly, and C.) That it is catalogued in a way that makes it accessible to a variety of audiences - human or machine.
Thus, documents arrive via manual entry, web clipping, sharing, API connections, and from others. It arrives in the Extraction Bay as a quarantined and potentially unlabeled piece. A custom agent network evaluates the piece, builds a case for it's inclusion, adds a portion of metadata, and prepares it for my review.
I review for relationship to convention, relationship to existing artifacts/relics/entities, and cohesion in presentation and continuity. If approved, the item’s status updates to “Artifact Member” in which it belongs in the corpus but remains un-encompassed by an overarching “Relic.” Relic adoption is another process which happens later and involves a more complex methodology for positioning the document within the knowledge space most appropriately.
